The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Chinese climbers' ascent of Mount Qomolangma again and also the 50th anniversary of China's first independent measurement of the mountain's elevation. Starting from April 28th, a series of commemorative events, including mountaineering exchange, hiking and biking race are being held in Lhasa. Nyima Tsering, the director of the Xizang Sports Bureau, introduced that Xizang is becoming a global center for high-altitude mountaineering, training, and international cooperation.
