Recently, a Tibetan calligraphy competition was held in Ganyan Township, Dengqen County, Qamdo City, southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, aiming to promote China's excellent traditional culture and to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Xizang Autonomous Region.

At the competition venue, 53 Tibetan calligraphy enthusiasts concentrated on their writing, with their brush tips gently touching the paper, fully showcasing the timeless charm of Tibetan script.

Contestant Chabai has been fascinated by Shangshung Tibetan calligraphy since childhood and has been studying the ancient Guba-Chachin style since the age of 12. He said that Tibetan calligraphy possessesmuch artistic appeal and serves as an effective way for others to understand Tibetan traditional culture. He feels a responsibility to inherit and promote it.

Dedicated to his craft, Chabai has been teaching Tibetan calligraphy in his spare time and has nurtured over a dozen enthusiasts. Fifteen-year-old Tsiqugya is one of his students. After three years of learning, his calligraphy skills have stood out, and he eagerly signed up for the competition upon hearing about it. Being looking forward to more such events being held in the future, he mentioned that learning calligraphy is highly meaningful.

The relevant person of the organizer stated that the competition not only provided a platform for contestants to showcase and exchange their skills but also represented a practical endeavor in inheriting and innovating excellent traditional culture.It demonstrated local people’s love for their hometown and their praise for the timesthrough the calligraphy .
