On June 10th, Lhasa held a press conference to announce the black-necked crane as its city bird. As the only high-altitude breeding and wintering species among the 15 crane species globally and a unique species to China, the black-necked crane is a nationally protected first-class animal, earning it the nickname "the panda among birds." It is deeply cherished by the Tibetan people and features prominently in Tibetan thangka paintings, costumes, carpets, wood carvings, furniture, and other artifacts.
