Deep in the plateau of Nagqu, China's Xizang, where the average altitude exceeds 4,500 meters, a census team composed of five women with an average age of under 30 has traversed over 100 villages (and residential communities) across 11 counties (or districts) in Nagqu over the past year. They have completed on-site surveys and comprehensive mapping of more than 800 immovable cultural heritage sites, filling in many gaps in the protection of cultural relics on the plateau.
