Before 1959, Dorje's family of eight in Comai Town, Comai County, Shannan City, Xizang, crowded together beside a cattle shed. In 1964, Dorji's elder brother, Tenzin Chosphel, built a wedding house with "two and a half pillars." In 1988, Tenzin Chosphel exchanged surplus grain for timber and constructed the first two-story building in the village. In 2011, Dorje's entire family moved into a brand-new Tibetan-style villa. In 2019, the whole family relocated to a newly built modern Tibetan-style sunlit warm house in the Dangxu Community of Comai Town.
