Recently, according to the Lhasa Customs, from January to May this year, the total value of Xizang's foreign trade imports and exports reached 3.846 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%, surpassing the national foreign trade growth rate by 10.7 percentage points and ranking 8th among all provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions).
Lhasa City and Xigaze City continued to play the role of the "dual engines" for foreign trade, accounting for 59.7% and 39.5% of Xizang's total foreign trade value respectively. Among them, Xigaze City's total import and export value was 1.52 billion yuan, with a growth of 43.3%.
Since the beginning of this year, Lhasa Customs has focused on its functions and responsibilities, taking the enhancement of intellectual property protection and the support for enterprise brand building as key initiatives to comprehensively improve the efficiency and quality of supervision and services. It has increased policy supply, continued to unleash the potential of plateau-featured industries, and explored new paths for eco-priority and green development. Xigaze Customs, under the jurisdiction of Lhasa Customs, has focused on local characteristic industries such as highland barley products, Tibetan incense, black tea, and mineral water, providing tailored "industry-specific" and "enterprise-specific" services. This has effectively facilitated 10 local enterprises in completing the customs intellectual property rights registration for their characteristic products, including Gangba sheep, Pali yak, Yadong salmon, wood ear mushrooms, Sakya Tibetan incense, Delangma mineral water, Nianxiong pea starch noodles, and Darewa beer.
As of now, Xigaze City has seen 15 newly registered foreign trade enterprises in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%. Currently, a total of 135 foreign trade enterprises in the city have completed registration and filing.
Looking ahead, Lhasa Customs will leverage the pivotal role of the Xigaze International Land Port and deepen the collaborative mechanisms of "region-port linkage" and "region-border linkage" with the Lhasa Comprehensive Bonded Zone, Zhangmu Port, and Gyirong Port. It will improve the whole-chain service system covering cargo collection, warehousing, and transportation to facilitate the efficient export of local characteristic products from Xizang and assist local enterprises in expanding their international market shares.
