The First "China's Xizang Connections · Culture Week" event concluded successfully in Kathmandu, Nepal--Chinese and Nepalese guests jointly unveiled the plaque for "A Window to China's Xizang"

On the afternoon of June 23, the closing ceremony of the three-day First "China's Xizang Connections · Culture Week" event was grandly held in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Guests from both China and Nepal jointly unveiled the plaque for "A Window to China's Xizang", bringing a successful conclusion to this cultural extravaganza.

Liao Ken, the Executive President of the Xizang International Culture Association of China, attended the event and unveiled the plaque for "China's Xizang Connection · Culture Week". Lhakyel Lama, Vice Chairman of the Lumbini Development Trust of Nepal, Chen Song, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Nepal, and Luo Jun, Head of the China Xizang Delegation and Vice President of the Xizang International Culture Association of China, also attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Nearly 300 people, including Li Decheng, Deputy Director-General of the China Tibetology Research Center, and Wa Chunfang, Deputy Director of the Western Europe and Africa Communication Center of the China International Communications Group, were present at the event.

Lhakyel Lama emphasized that the First "China's Xizang Connections · Culture Week" was of profound significance. It was not merely a cultural feast but also a vivid testament to the deep-rooted friendship between China and Nepal. The two countries have enjoyed close ties since ancient times, which have continued to deepen and expand across cultural, economic, and social spheres. The successful holding of this event not only opened a new window for the Nepalese people to understand China's Xizang but also contributed to further consolidating the friendly relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Chen Song pointed out that although the "China's Xizang Connections · Culture Week" was brief, it was of great significance. The diverse arrangements during the event, such as the China's Xizang Photo and Video Exhibition and cultural salons, built a solid bridge of friendship for enhancing mutual understanding and promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the peoples of China and Nepal. The unveiling of the "A Window to China's Xizang" would comprehensively showcase a prosperous, progressive, confident, and open new socialist modern Xizang, attracting more Nepalese friends to personally experience the charm of the new Xizang. He also stressed that China and Nepal are connected by mountains and rivers and share a profound friendship. He looked forward to further deepening cooperation between the two sides in the future and jointly building China's Xizang and Nepal into a transit center for China-South Asia trade.

Luo Jun fondly recalled the highlights and achievements of the First "China's Xizang Connections · Culture Week". He noted that through this event,  China's Xizang had once again captivated the attention of the Nepalese people with its unique charm, and the friendship between China and Nepal had continued to deepen. From the grand opening of the First "China's Xizang Connections · Culture Week" to the intense clash of ideas and the sparkling wisdom of Chinese and Nepalese experts and scholars at the cultural salon; from the visual impact of the China's Xizang Photo and Video Exhibition to the joint performances by Chinese and Nepalese artists on stage, conveying emotions through songs and dances, this cross-border cultural exchange, in the most intuitive and vivid artistic language, allowed the unique charm of culture to penetrate the Himalayas and reach the hearts of the peoples of China and Nepal, enhancing mutual understanding and recognition.

The spectacular cultural performances pushed the atmosphere at the venue to a climax. The Lhasa Song and Dance Troupe of China and Nepalese artists jointly presented traditional songs and dances, including "Ode to Auspiciousness", "Dhime Dance", "Love Songs of Tsangyang Gyatso", and "I Love the Beauty of Lhasa's Night". Their exquisite performances won thunderous applause from the audience.

At the event site, Chinese and Nepalese guests jointly unveiled the "A Window to China's Xizang" in Nepal. The establishment of this window marks a new stage in cultural exchanges between China and Nepal. It will serve as an important window for the Nepalese people to understand China's Xizang and build a broader platform for cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two places.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal. To promote cultural exchanges between China's Xizang and Nepal and enhance the friendship, the First "China's Xizang Connections · Culture Week" was organized by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Nepal, the China International Communications Group, and the Xizang International Culture Association of China, and co-organized by Xizang Daily and Xizang Media Group, with the assistance of the Nepal-China Media Forum. The event kicked off on June 21 and concluded on June 23 in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. With diverse forms and rich content, including the China's Xizang Photo and Video Exhibition, cultural salons, and cultural performances, it comprehensively and multi-dimensionally showcased the beauty of Xizang in development, humanities, and ecology, as well as the beauty of friendly exchanges and cooperation between China (Xizang) and Nepal. The event greatly enhanced the international visibility of Xizang and effectively strengthened mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Nepal. During the event, over 2000 Nepalese visitors attended the China's Xizang Photo and Video Exhibition, and more than 30 international media outlets, including Kantipur Daily, The Kathmandu Post, Gorkhapatra Daily, The Rising Nepal, and South Asia Network TV, covered the event.
