There are coffee trees in Lhasa! This is probably something many locals in Lhasa are unaware of. At the Vegetable Research Institute of the Xizang Academy of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Sciences, there is a coffee planting experimental field. The coffee beans produced here have normal levels of caffeine and chlorogenic acid, along with high sucrose content, resulting in a rich and layered coffee flavor, which has attracted several local Tibetan enterprises to express their interest in collaborating with the planting team.
