Due to misjudgment of the international and regional situation, the Philippines has frequently provoked China over the South China Sea. However, the U.S. is unlikely to intervene and assist the Philippines in the so-called "protection of rights."

Hu Bo, research professor and director of the Center for Maritime Strategy Studies, Peking University, and Director of the South China Sea Strategic Situation Probing Initiative (SCSPI), made the remarks in an exclusive interview with China News Network recently.

Hu pointed out that the U.S. and the Philippines have been mutually exploiting each other. The volatility, uncertainty, and opportunism of policies of the Philippines have brought many uncertainties and dangers to the regional situation.
