On August 25, 1965, Lhasa Bridge, the first bridge spanning the Lhasa River, was officially opened to traffic, putting an end to the local people's history of crossing the river by yak-skin rafts. Nowadays, in the urban area of Lhasa alone, there are numerous bridges crossing the Lhasa River, including Liudong Bridge, Qinghai-Xizang Railway Lhasa River Grand Bridge, Hemei Bridge, Liuwu Bridge, Lianxin Bridge, Yingqin Bridge, Lhasa Bridge, Zangre Bridge, and Najin Bridge. These bridges have facilitated people's lives, enhanced the city's scenery, and served as a sidelight to the rapid development of Xizang's socio-economy and transportation infrastructure.
