Recently, the research team led by Gao Xinfen from the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, discovered a new species within the Rosa genus in southern Xizang. This species has been officially named Rosa austrotibetana. The specimen was first collected in 2022 from the forest edge at an altitude of approximately 3,900 meters in Zhari Town, Lhunze County, Xizang. Subsequently, the species was also found in regions such as Medog County. This species is a vine-like or climbing shrub, with branches that can grow up to 9 meters long.
