Purang, bordering India and Nepal, has a long history of frontier trade. In 2016, China invested 280 million yuan to build the new Tangga Border Trade Market at the Purang Port, attracting domestic and international merchants. The year 2026 marks the Tibetan Year of the Horse, which is considered the "birth year" of Mount Gang Rinpoche. Devotees from around the world will travel here for the pilgrimage circuit, and local traders see this as a major business opportunity.
