Recently, according to China Railway Qinghai-Xizang Group Co., Ltd., since the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway in Xizang officially began operation on June 25, 2021, it has transported a total of 5.75 million passengers and 1.738 million tons of goods.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Xizang's railway network has been expanding rapidly. With the opening and operation of the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway, a "Y"-shaped main framework, consisting of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway, the Lhasa-Xigaze Railway, and the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railwayhas been formed, forging to a qualitative leap in passenger and freight transportation capacity. At the same time, the Lhasa-Xigaze Railway transported 7.955 million passengers and 4.284 million tons of goods, and the Qinghai-Xizang Railway transported over 12.25 million inbound and outbound passengers and more than 34.5 million tons of goods. The plateau railway system has strongly supported the socioeconomic development and livelihood needs of the Xizang Autonomous Region.

China Railway Qinghai-Xizang Group Co., Ltd. has continued to improve accessibility and convenience by opening Yanshiping Station (elevation 4,721 meters), China's highest-altitude railway passenger station, and the Budongquan boarding point. This has resolved travel difficulties for over ten thousand herders in multiple townships around the Nyenchen Tanglha and Kunlun Mountains.

In addition, the company has enhanced transportation services during special events such as the Tibetan New Year and the Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival, facilitated group ticket bookings for students from Tibetan colleges and universities, and implemented multilingual services at major passenger stations in Xizang.

Notably, during the 2025 "Double 11" online shopping festival, the freight transportation time to Xizang was reduced from about 60 hours to less than 48 hours, significantly improving efficiency. Express packages departing from Xining Freight Yard can be transported to Lhasa West Station via the Qinghai-Xizang Railway and then transferred to local sorting centers within two hours, further enhancing delivery times and shopping experiences for customers in Lhasa.
