On April 1, a Chinese research team announced the discovery of one new insect genus and 99 new insect species. More than 80% of the new species are distributed in Xizang, with 62 found in Medog. These new species hold significant value for ecological monitoring and the carbon cycle, further confirming the extremely high biodiversity of the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau.
