Unveiling architectural features of houses in Bomi, Xizang

Source:xzxw.com 2026-04-07

Located in the transition zone between the southeastern forest area and the plateau in Xizang, Bomi features mainly log cabins and stone-timbered blockhouses. Built with local materials using mortise-and-tenon structures, the houses have sloped roofs for rain protection and flat roofs for drying, adapting well to the humid and rainy climate while showcasing distinctive Xizang characteristics. The region is home to traditional Xizang-style temples such as the Dodong Monastery, as well as red historical buildings like the Bomi Red Building, where traditional styles and cultural heritage complement each other perfectly.
