On April 6, construction began on the world's highest-altitude parabolic trough concentrated solar power (CSP) plant—the CGN Xizang Uma Tang 50 MW solar thermal project—in Damxung County, Lhasa. Once completed, the plant is expected to generate approximately 719 million kWh of annual average on-grid electricity, saving about 216,900 tonnes of standard coal and reducing CO₂ emissions by roughly 652,300 tonnes per year.
