As spring arrives, dividend distribution meetings unfold across Gerze County, Xizang. The joyful atmosphere, mixed with the aroma of butter tea, spread over the grasslands. In 2025, the total revenue of village-level collective economies in Gerze County exceeded 100 million yuan (≈US$14.6 million) for the first time, marking a vivid milestone in the rural revitalization of plateau pastoral areas.

Recently, Gotsang Village, Marme Town, Gerze County, held its dividend meeting. Calculations showed that the village's collective economy revenue for 2025 reached 8.4094 million yuan (≈ US$1.23 million), with 7.114 million yuan (≈US$ 1.04 million) distributed among 116 herder households.

Herders dressed in traditional attire gathered, holding new banknotes. Tsewang, one of them, carefully tucked his cash into his chest pocket, patting it with a broad smile.

"My family has been herding for generations. In the past, even odd jobs were hard to come by," Tsewang said. In 2019, the village established a collective cooperative. He and his son joined the transport team, while other family members joined collective herding. In 2025, his family's annual income reached about 140,000 yuan (≈US$20,487), steadily improving their standard of living.

Tsatso Village, Marme Town, celebrated a landmark year. In November 2025, a new community was completed, and families moved into bright, clean homes. By the end of the year, the village's collective economy revenue had climbed to 22.662 million yuan (≈US$3.32 million).

Dayu, a villager, recalled the dividend day with a smile, "in the past, every household raised livestock separately. The pastures couldn't support enough animals, and the livestock didn't grow well. In 2018, the village adopted intensive farming, scientific feeding, and a points-based management system. In 2025, my family received over 70,000 yuan (≈US$10,243) in dividends from animal husbandry alone—something I never imagined possible."

These gains were widespread. In 2025, Gerze County's 28 village-level collectives generated 102 million yuan (≈US$14.9 million) in revenue, distributing 71.2685 million yuan (≈US$10.4 million) to herder households.

Gerze County has integrated pastures, livestock, and sheds to pursue large-scale, intensive farming. Scientific feeding, breed improvement, and branded operations have boosted efficiency. Models such as entrusted rearing, dividend-based shareholding, and contract-based animal husbandry now stabilize the collective economy's core income.

A county official said Gerze will continue to strengthen its pastoral brands, extend industrial chains, cultivate new income sources, and leverage high-quality village-level collectives to build a modern, thriving pastoral region.
