On April 17, 2026, Nyingchi, Xizang, was named among the first batch of "Hidden Gem Towns" by China National Travel magazine. The selection aims to discover and promote small cities across China with unique charm, based on criteria such as historical and cultural value, tourism resources, and economic development potential. As the only city in Xizang to make the list, Nyingchi's distinctive appeal and growth prospects have been well recognized.
