Recently, the China-Nepal joint "Core of the Summit" expedition team summited Mount Qomalangma from the Nepali side, completing the world's first drilling of a bedrock-penetrating ice core at the summit. The team has safely returned to base camp, collecting snow and ice samples at various elevations along the way. Preserved at low temperatures, these samples will help researchers study the evolution of the high-altitude climate, cryosphere, and atmospheric environment, filling a gap in observation and research at the Mount Qomalangma summit.
