"In 2025, the total number of college graduates in our region reached 33,516, with an employment rate of over 95%. Among them, market-based employment accounts for more than half and has become the absolute main force absorbing employment," introduced Fu Xiancheng, Deputy Director of the Xizang Autonomous Region Employment Service Center, "changing inherent concepts is the key breakthrough in the employment work for college graduates."

To enrich the employment options for college graduates, the Xizang Autonomous Region has continuously implemented a series of activities such as bringing public employment services onto campus, launching employment service campaigns for graduates who have left school but remain unemployed, and carrying out special recruitment services. It has rolled out a set of targeted and effective work measures, forming a full-chain employment promotion system featuring "stabilizing posts, improving capabilities, optimizing services, and strengthening guarantees".

At the end of April this year, the regional human resources and social security department organized employers within the region to carry out special recruitment activities at Southwest Minzu University and Minzu University of China, attracting many fresh graduates to apply for jobs.

During exchanges, it was learned that at present, most graduates are gradually changing their perception of employment, and they pay more attention to practical factors such as the matching degree between the post and their own major, career development space, and salary and benefits.

"I major in transportation. Recently, I have been learning about aviation-related enterprises in the region and want to take up a post that matches my major," said Nyima Yudron, a student from Civil Aviation Flight University of China.

During the Q&A session of the policy briefing before the job fair, some students asked: "What is the employment situation this year?" "Are there any subsidies for employment in enterprises?" Fu Xiancheng listened carefully and answered each question one by one.

He told reporters that problems such as the coexistence of "difficulty in finding jobs" and "difficulty in recruiting workers", the coexistence of "need for employment" and "delayed employment", and the mismatch between market demand and major supply still exist. To encourage multi-channel employment, the Xizang Autonomous Region has taken multiple measures and introduced a number of subsidy policies and supporting measures -- including market-based employment subsidies within the region, market-based employment subsidies outside the region, certificates and other subsidies, and entrepreneurship support. All college graduates who meet the requirements can apply for them in accordance with regulations.

"For example, a regular full-time college graduate with Xizang household registration who, within five years of graduation, signs a labor contract of three years or more with an enterprise and has paid social insurance normally for at least one year, is eligible for market-based employment subsidies within the region."

Fu Xiancheng added, "This subsidy includes the living and housing subsidies for individual graduates. The subsidy standards are 100% of the regional minimum wage paid monthly and 50% of the regional minimum wage paid monthly respectively. There are also full social insurance subsidies and pre-job training subsidies for enterprises that absorb employment, which are cashed out for the college graduates they hire."

In addition, college graduates can search for "Xizang Employment and Entrepreneurship" and "Xizang Digital Recruitment Platform" to learn more about employment support policies, job recruitment information inside and outside the region, and apply for subsidies online.

With policies in place, more paths available, people's concepts have also changed accordingly.

Taphun, who graduated from Xizang University in 2020, opened a cafe in the northern suburbs of Lhasa. "I was very excited after learning about the employment policies in the region, so I came to start my own business," said Taphun. Since the store opened, he has successfully received the entrepreneurship support funds distributed in stages.

"Now the business of the cafe is getting better and better. Last week, we even recruited 2 new waiters, otherwise we would be too busy to handle it," Taphun wore a bright happy smile on his face.

Through his own experience, he encourages the majority of graduates to boldly try different employment directions in combination with their own professional characteristics, interests and career plans, and realize their life value in more suitable posts.
