The 14th Sports Games of Xizang Autonomous Region and the 6th Traditional Ethnic Minority Sports Games are in full swing in Xigaze City, and the "Kongpo whistling arrow" (Bixiu) competition is staged brilliantly!

Kongpo whistling arrow, called "Bixiu" in Tibetan, is a unique traditional sports event in the Kongpo area of Nyingchi, Xizang, with a history of more than 1,500 years. 

The arrow shaft is made of wood, and the hollow arrowhead is drilled with sound holes. When the arrow leaves the bow, the air flows through the holes and makes a clear and long whistle sound, hence the name "whistling arrow". The contestants aim at the three-ring leather target about 38 meters away -- an effective score is counted when the arrow hits the bullseye and the inner ring falls off. Every time the arrow whistles sharply past, the archers clap their hands and shout "Caxiu" (which means "good shot" or "cheers").(XDICC)
