On August 31, Panchen Erdeni Chos-kyi rGyal-po, a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a vice president of the Buddhist Association of China, presided over a prayer ceremony at Xigaze's Tashilhunpo Monastery, to offer blessings for the people affected by the mudslide disaster in Gyirong County.At 9:30 a.m., the Tsokchen Hall of Tashilhunpo Monastery was filled with solemnity and reverence. Panchen Erdeni Choekyi Gyalpo, together with the monks, chanted sutras to guide the souls of the deceased, praying that the departed may be reborn in the pure land of ultimate bliss, that the living may be free from suffering, and that all beings may enjoy peace and well-being. The prayer ceremony lasted one and a half hours, with the participation of more than 200 monks from Tashilhunpo Monastery and religious figures from Xigaze.

The ruthlessness of nature and the genuine compassion of humanity intertwine, making life all the more precious and the human form all the more cherished. As creations of nature, we human beings should hold nature in awe, while striving amid the relentless cycle of birth and death to pursue the heights of life and to savor its beauty. This may well be the very essence of existence: life itself has no inherent meaning, but living it well endows it with meaning, and living it in great love and kindness gives it profound weight. Those who have faith, who have ideals, and who contribute to the nation and its people- they represent the loftiest realm of life. We salute the most adorable people, mourn our departed compatriots, and offer prayers for all those who have suffered.
