From September 5 to 6, the State Council Information Office, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized a group of foreign media reporters to conduct an on-site visit to the “8·26” mudslide disaster area in Gyirong County, Xigaze City, southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region.

At noon on September 6, the Chinese and international press corps traveled deep into the hardest-hit zone around the Gyirong Port.

Walking along damaged roads to survey the aftermath, they received detailed briefings on disaster response, rescue operations, evacuation efforts, and progress in restoring basic services. Up close, they witnessed the round‑the‑clock, relentless relief campaign unfolding on the plateau.

That afternoon, the reporters attended a press briefing hosted by the emergency response headquarters for the Gyirong mudslide disaster. Senior officials from the Xizang Autonomous Region were present to provide a comprehensive account of the incident—covering the causes, emergency measures, search-and-rescue operations, and livelihood support—and to answer questions from the foreign and domestic media.

Journalists from the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Brazil, and other countries and regions participated in the interviews. Through field visits and face‑to‑face exchanges, the reporters gained a multi‑faceted view of the region’s all‑out efforts to rush aid to the affected areas and properly shelter displaced residents.
