On Sept. 24, a signing ceremony for Xizang agricultural and specialty products going out of Xizang (Xizang Shannan Apple · Sunlight Sweet Fruit) was held at the apple base in Dixin Village, Zetang Subdistrict, Nedong District, Shannan City. The total shipment under the contract is 210,000 jin. The first batch of 15,000 jin will be shipped by freight from Nedong District to the Wuhan Cloud Warehouse and is expected to arrive in two to three days.

The first batch is “Xizang Shannan Apple · Sunlight Sweet Fruit,” supplied by Yatou Company. The first 15,000 jinshipped will first enter the Wuhan market and be introduced into the newly opened unmanned, checkout-free supermarket of Changjiang Yanxuan. Yatou Company said that Nedong's dwarf apples have grown well this year, and output is expected to exceed 320,000 jin in 2026. The early orders have given fruit farmers peace of mind and prompted early preparations for picking, sorting, packaging, and transportation.

With an altitude of about 3,650 meters, Nedong District has long annual sunshine hours and a large temperature difference between day and night, making it an ideal natural production area for dwarf apples. The district has 5,000 mu of dwarf apple orchards, mainly growing high-quality varieties such as Yanfu No. 8, Yanfu No. 10, and Qincui. It uses dwarf-rootstock, high-density planting horticultural technology, supported by Israeli drip irrigation and a scientific management and care system.Technicianssaid the apples here have an average soluble solids content of 20°Brix, 3 to 4 percentage points higher than the same varieties in inland areas; strong ultraviolet rays make the fruit surface coloring rate reach 90%, forming a natural “plateau red”; the peeled firmness is 9.2 kg/cm², and they can be kept fresh for eight months at 0-2°C. The high-altitude dry and cold climate means fewer pests and diseases. Irrigated by glacier melt-water, the fruit is naturally rich in trace elements such as iron, zinc, selenium, calcium, and potassium. The planting process uses less chemical fertilizer and pesticide, approaching green and organic standards.

The apple industry is also an ecological and people-enriching industry in Nedong. Based on the sandy wasteland in the Yarlung Zangbo River Valley, Nedong District promotes dwarf apple planting with a model of "sand control + industrial development + enriching the people." Once barren beaches have become orchards, which not only hold back wind and sand and restore the valley ecology, but also help local people find nearby jobs and increase their incomes.

This "Xizang products going out of Xizang" signing is a concrete action by Wuhan's 11th batch aid-Xizang work team to promote consumption-based and industrial aid to Xizang. Wang Bo, executive deputy secretary of the CPC Nedong District Committee, executive deputy head of Nedong District, and leader of Wuhan's 11th batch aid-Xizang work team, said that taking this signing as an opportunity, the team will play its role as a bridge and bond, continue to open up channels for Nedong's agricultural and specialty products to leave Xizang, and bring more quality Xizang products to Wuhan, Hubei, and across the country.

After the signing, the first batch will be loaded and shipped along the freight route from Nedong District to the Wuhan Cloud Warehouse, delivering the sweetness of plateau sunshine to the banks of the Yangtze River.
