Tibetan-Han Garden welcomes over 500 visitors a day,
Dexing Town records 29,000 yuan in single-day income growth
This holiday, the autumn rain, colorful forests and fragrant fruit formed visitors' first impression of Linzhi, Xizang.
In Mainling City, apples and prunes hang heavy on the branches. In Zayul County, pomegranates, kiwis, dragon fruit and other seasonal fruits were juicy, fresh and inviting. In Mainri Town, Bayi District, yellow peaches give off a sweet, tempting aroma...
Taking advantage of the overlap between the autumn harvest and the National Day holiday, many families with children and out-of-town tourists turned away from whirlwind check-in tours. Leaving the hustle and bustle of cities behind, they head into farmlands and wander through orchards to pick autumn produce.
Amid the autumn picking boom, the Tibetan-Han Garden in Bugyu Town, Bayi District, was especially popular, emerging as a top local destination for local fruit-picking tours.
"We launched a picking promotion: pick an entire designated apple tree and the apples are 5 yuan per jin. Thanks to the town's help with promotion, word spread widely. We see more than 200 vehicles and at least 500 visitors a day," said Kang Yijuan, manager of the Tibetan-Han Garden.
A steady stream of residents and tourists moved through the orchards, picking fruit, tasting it and packing it for mailing. The lively picking scene became the most vivid picture of rural autumn inLinzhi.
Ms. Zhao, a resident of Linzhi, brought friends and family for an immersive fruit-picking experience in the fields. Delighted, she remarked, "In previous National Day holidays, I visited major scenic spots only to face huge crowds — it was more tiring than going to work. This year, I chose to stay and slowly savour Linzhi's autumn. Look at these apples we picked, fresh and affordable. My parents love them. Getting close to nature and trying farm work even helped us young people shake off workplace burnout."
Yet the autumn harvest means far more than bumper crops. It is about revitalizing ecological resources and unlocking rural value, turning stunning harvest landscapes and high-quality farm produce into tangible gains for local residents.
The bustling holiday scene in Dexing Town, Medog County serves as a vivid example of how cultural and tourism development enriches local people in Linzhi.
This holiday, Dexing Town launched the "Gather in Trendy Dexing, Enjoy National Day" wild mountain feast, using immersive rural experiences to energize rural tourism. Medog’s first mountain coffee shop, "A Grain of Mountain Wind," became a hot spot for young tourists. Nearby, an ecological science popularization corridor combined study tours with sightseeing, vividly showcasing Medog's unique biodiversity and ecological advantages to visitors from all directions. Stone-pot chicken was rich and savory; Monpa hand-grabbed rice was soft, glutinous and flavorful; wild mountain barbecue was aromatic; and traditional Monpa yellow rice wine was smooth and mellow with a sweet finish. A dazzling array of Monpa specialty foods offered visitors a one-stop taste of "snowy plateau flavors."
According to local officials, Dexing Town's mountain-themed event generated more than 29,000 yuan in income for local residents in a single day, allowing villagers to earn a stable living from eco-tourism at their doorstep.
With taste buds satisfied and body and mind relaxed, residents and tourists experienced the abundance and beauty of a plateau autumn through the healing power of rural picking and local cuisine. They also witnessed the new transformation of rural culture and tourism as it improves quality, boosts efficiency and increases incomes.
