The Xizang Autonomous Region Department of Culture and Tourism announced that Xizang has fully completed its tourism resources survey, with a total of 58,450 tourism resources identified. Among them, 31,751 resources were newly discovered or newly recognized, accounting for 54.32% of the total, further clarifying the resource base.

This is the first time Xizang has carried out a tourism resource inventory in a manner featuring unified standards, full regional coverage, and a systematic and scientific approach. Launched in August 2023, the survey established a working mechanism of three-level coordination among the region, city, and county levels and multi-departmental collaboration. The resources identified cover the 8 main categories, 22 subcategories, and 118 basic types defined by the survey standards, reflecting the characteristics of Xizang's tourism resources: a huge volume, complete types, and rich structure.

On the basis of the resource inventory, Xizang rated 13,518 tourism resources as high-quality, including 944 Grade V, 2,372 Grade IV, and 10,202 Grade III resources, making the base of high-quality tourism resources clearer. Advantages in geomorphological landscapes, water landscapes, buildings and facilities, and other resources are prominent. Magnificent natural ecological landscapes complement cultural resources such as cultural heritage sites and distinctive festivals that embody the history of exchanges, interactions and integration among all ethnic groups.
