Reconstruction and extension project of the Library of Tibet Autonomous Region will be finished in mid-September, which will provide a wider space for readers in Tibet.

According to Penpa Tsering, the director, more collected books will be shown to public after the project. “The stack will be open to public and some of them can be borrowed by readers after we have more rooms.”

New building of the library includes multiple-use section and the floors of operation and academic report. Genre of the building is in Tibetan style, which is homologous with the nearby Norbulingka Summer Palace.

PVC floor is another highlight of the building. It's very wear proof and pro-environmental, and its function of noise reduction will prevent the readers from being disturbed by footsteps.

A youth's reading room with the capacity of 100 children is divided into reading area and activity area. Colorful cartoon ground mats will be set in activity area and some toys will be prepared for preschool children as well.
