On August 5, 2018, the Teaching Assistance Group of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics arrived in Lhasa to promote traditional mask culture to local students. With Wang Zhihai as its head, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of traditional opera mask-making, the group carried brushes, paints and more than 160 face mask models to make the classes more interesting.
Students from four middle and primary schools in Lhasa shared this opportunity. During Wang's class, he chose typical figures such as Son Goku and Zhangfei to explain the essence of mask culture. Moreover, he also introduced the requirements of mask making to them. In this way, students could make simple masks through their own efforts.
The group was committed to carry out the second classroom education for local students to improve their overall quality as well as to boost culture exchanges between the Han and Tibetan, a group member said.[Jia Dan, He Huizhong]
