BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- A central delegation led by China's top political advisor Wang Yang returned to Beijing on Saturday after visiting southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
The delegation headed by Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Tibet's peaceful liberation, visited the cadres and people from various ethnic groups and from all walks of life in the region, and looked into the region's economic and social development. They were warmly welcomed by the local people.
Leading a division of the delegation, Wang paid a visit to a technical college on Saturday morning, where he called on students to gain professional skills to create their own wonderful lives and make contributions to the motherland.
The Tibet Autonomous Region held a grand farewell ceremony when the central delegation left Tibet.
The central delegation left Beijing for Lhasa on Wednesday for the 70th anniversary celebrations.
