Under the support of the central government and the government of Tibet Autonomous Region, nearly 30000 people in Tibet have directly taken part in the intangible cultural heritage inheritance activities in recent years.
To promote the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, the first batch of autonomous region level intangible cultural heritage inheritance bases were established in 2011 with the principle of combining economic and social benefits. Nearly 4 million yuan RMB was invested in promoting infrastructures and carrying out all kinds of activities.
According to Ngawang Tenzin, deputy director of the Tibet Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, 4 enterprises have been named as national level productive protection demonstration bases since 2011 by the Ministry of Culture. In addition, 12 enterprises have been named as autonomous region level productive protection demonstration bases by the Culture Department of Tibet Autonomous Region. A series of derivative products such as Thangka, Tibetan medicine, Tibetan cushion, Tibetan incense, leather goods, bronze ware, wooden bowl, etc. are developed.
At the same time, individuals, enterprises and social organizations are encouraged to engage in protecting and developing intangible cultural heritage projects. A number of leading cultural enterprises begin to emerge.
