It is reported that Riley Blake, a professor from University of Virginia, have studied the Tibetan medicine for over 10 years and expected to cooperate with Chinese scholars for opening a new field of Tibetan medicine research.
Riley Blake said that after many times practices and researches, her team thought the contemplative psychotherapy of traditional Tibetan medicine is good for spiritual practice of the patient. The cultural ideology of Tibetan medicine is meaningful for the palliative concern to the patient.
Wu Tianyi, the director of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Medical Science Institution, said that stemming from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau enjoying unique conditions, Chinese Tibetan Medicine is associated with Tibetan philosophy and Tibetan customs tightly. The clinical experience of Tibetan medicine and the modern medicine are in common and complementary. It also has its unique features. The development of Tibetan medicine benefits the patient from home and abroad.
Since the reform and opening-up, China has given a greater support for the development of medical and healthcare system in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. The traditional Tibetan medicine has achieved great development and heritage. At the same time, achievements of Tibetan medicine research and its clinic application are attracted broad attention. With the innovation of some unique diagnosis and treatments, the Tibetan medicine is faced with new development opportunities.
“ In the old days, the Tibetan medicine research and production were in monasteries and served for aristocrats. In recent years, the Tibetan medicine was promoted and known by people out of Qinghai-Tibet plateau . The clinics and hospitals of Tibetan medicine grow to such a large mass. Besides, a lot of professors in the field of Tibetan medicine go abroad to have academic exchanges and cooperation.” said by Nyima Tseing, the director of Tibetan medicine hospital in Tibet, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region.
