The Drigung Embroidery Thangka in Maizhokunggar County, Lhasa City is one of the Thangka genres with extremely rich characteristics and it is spreaded in a small range in the form of family inheritance.

Mima Tsering, the 6th generation inheritor of Drigung Embroidery Thangka, established the Drigung Embroidery Thangka Cooperative with the help of the Poverty Relief Office of Maizhokunggar County. He says, "now the cooperative's scale is larger. Students are increasing and 6 or 7 students have finished their apprenticeship. What's more, they not only set up shops in Lhasa but also begin to receive apprentices. More and more people are engaged in Drigung Embroidery Thangka career, so this craft can be inherited."
