Recently, the government of Tibet Autonomous Region decides to authorize 6 towns as autonomous region level historical and cultural towns and 8 villages as autonomous region level historical and cultural villages.
To better protect and inherit traditional national culture, the evaluation criteria includes the original condition protection degree, historical value, characteristics, and so on. In addition, towns and villages should reflect local features and folk customs, and integrates with traditional building technology, architecture relics, cultural relics, and traditional culture.
The 6 autonomous region level historical and cultural towns are Zhentang Town of Dinggye County, Shigatse City, Jedexoi Town of Konggar County, Lhoka City, Naxi Nationality Township of Mangkang county, Chamdo City, Shodo Town of Lhorong County, Chamdo City, Daqian Town of Nagqu County, Nagqu Prefecture, and Toding Town of Zanda County, Ngari Prefecture.
The 8 autonomous region level historical and cultural villages are Dagdong Village of Newu District, Lhasa City, Caina Village of Caina Town, Chushur County,Lhasa City, Litu Village of Karma Town, Karub District, Chamdo City, kamthok Village of Kamthok Town, Jomda County, Chamdo City, Junyong Village of Dombang Town, Zogang County, Chamdo City, Taizhao Village of Gyamda Town, Kongpo Gyamda County, Nyingchi City, South Community Committee of Wombu Town, Nima County, Nagqu Prefecture, and Korqag Village of Pulan town, Pulan County, Ngari Prefecture.
