China's Xizang commends craftspeople of 2023

LHASA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region awarded the title "Tibetan Craftsperson of 2023" to eight individuals on Wednesday.

The title is a benchmark for practicing craftsmanship and leading innovation and creativity in Xizang, according to the regional federation of trade unions.

Pasang Wangdu, 55, one of the recipients, has applied scientific achievements to animal husbandry, increasing incomes for farmers and herders across an area of 590,000 square kilometers in the region for over 30 years.

Another recipient, 43-year-old Luo Xiaoling, is a tea planting expert, who has also streamlined the tea-making process while preserving the original taste of Tibetan black tea.

Since 2021, the autonomous region has vigorously focused on developing craftsmanship. So far, the region has trained over 430,000 skilled individuals.
