In 2018, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has achieved good results in targeted poverty alleviation through developing tourism, helped 47,000 farmers and herdsmen getting jobs from tourism. 32,000 poor people have been lifted out of poverty by engaging in the development of tourism. The number of rural tourism scenic spots has reached 200, receiving 9.35 million people and realizing 1.2 billion yuan RMB rural tourism income.
In 2019, relying on the opportunities and policies for tourism development, tourism departments of Tibet continue to implement the rural revitalization strategy and focus on increasing farmers and herdsmen's income as well as promoting employment, so as to step up the poverty alleviation in an all-round way. In addition, Tibet plans to help 105,770 farmers and herdsmen getting jobs and increasing their income by 614 million yuan RMB, while lifting 22,000 poor people out of poverty.
